1st Grade Focus Areas
Our program uses the following programs to support our curriculum:
- Becoming an independent reader
- Planning and writing a five star piece of work
- Understanding math concepts such as place value, numbers to 120, addition, and subtraction
- Exploring science topics- plant and animal superpowers, spinning sky and lights and sound
- Social Emotional Learning (Community Building and Citizenship)

This is my 6th year here at Canterbury Elementary School. Prior to working at CES, I worked at Killingly Public Schools for 13 years. I enjoy spending time with my family in Maine at our cabin as much as possible!

Hello Families! This is my 8th year as a certified teacher here at Canterbury Elementary School. Prior to that, I was a reading intervention paraeducator for 15 years in the district. “Mr. P.” and I have 2 adult sons, and we vacation in the Adirondack region of New York in the summers. I enjoy line dancing and dining with friends when I’m not at work, and I love to shop locally!

This is my first year at CES and I am very happy to be here. I live in Gales Ferry, CT with my husband, daughter and cat. I have two daughters that are BOTH teachers!!!
My favorite place to be is the beach with a really good book! I also love to garden and grow beautiful flowers and yummy vegetables.
